（新）高１高２英文解釈添削演習の注意


時間をかけて丁寧に仕上げてください。
急いでやっても力はつきません。
以下を確認してください。

①　ありそうな日本語訳を考える。
　　下線部訳を要求する入試問題は、
　　直訳では日本語にならないものばかりです。
　　日本語らしい日本語にすること
　　言葉を足すべきか、単語を割愛すべきか、
　　直訳になってはいないか、
　　逐語訳になってはいないか　など。
②　構文の構成要件は理解できているか
　　ただの暗記になってはいないか
　　代名詞は特定できているか

To his great surprise, after carefully polishing and cleaning the metal disc, he could see the face of his father who had died ten years before.

直訳：彼が大いに驚いたことには、注意深くその金属の円盤を磨いた後、彼は１０年前に死んだ彼の父の顔を見ることができた。

彼がその金属の円盤を丹念に磨いて汚れを落とすと、なんと、１０年前に亡くなった父親の顔が現れたのだった。

As long as we convince ourselves that we're so busy and our work is so vital that we can't afford to slow down, then we don't have to look at our own lives and the personal issues that are so difficult to address.

直訳：私たちが、私たちはとても忙しいし、私たちの仕事は極めて重要なので、のんびりする余裕はないと私たち自身を納得させる限り・・・（省略）・・・。


とても忙しいし、仕事はとても大事なので、遊んでいる暇などないと、私たちが思い込んでいる限り、自分の将来ややっかいな個人の問題に目を向けなくてもすむのである。

If a professor asks students whether they have understood an explanation he has given, he wants a straightforward yes or no. He does not expect them to say yes for fear that acknowledgement of lack of understanding would show that they are not smart.　
仮定法：主語がif節を意味する

理解の欠如の自認は彼らが賢くないことを示す。

教授という職種の人が、自分がしたばかりの説明を学生たちに理解できたかどうかと尋ねる場合、彼は「はい」や「いいえ」といった率直な返事が欲しいのだ。学生たちが、自分たちが理解していないということを認めたために、「いいえ」と返事することで自分たちが馬鹿だと思われるのを恐れるあまり、「はい」と返事することなど、教授は望んでいないのである。
ちょっとくどいかも？
