2013年早大法学部国語1番 問一の九
五行目からの英訳と口語訳です。
The hearts of four of us are content and feel at ease,
Sharing together the moonlight thousands of miles afar.
満足だなあ、私たち四人の心は、
何千里も離れた月の明かりを共有できて。
The bright moon does not understand why we grow old
And good moment could hardly be enjoyed by us all.
明月にはわからないのだ われわれ人間がなぜ年をとるのか
そして、良い瞬間を私たちはみんなで楽しむことがほとんどできなかったことを。
When I recollect guests dinning together before,
Gatherings and separations appear like drifting duckweeds.
以前客たちと一緒に食事をしたことを思い出すが、
人の離散集合は浮草の漂流のように思える。
Once I heard that tonight's moon, dull or bright,
Is the same across thousands of miles apart.
かつて私は聞いたことがある 今夜の月は、曇っていても明るくても
数千里離れていても同じものが見えるのだと。
Our Lord does bless us all
And we cannot take this gathering lightly.
天は私たち全員を祝福してくれている
だから、この集まりを軽んじてはならない。
Next year each of us shall look at the moon,
Mulling over events transpired now and before.
来年はみな一人でこの月を見るだろう
現在と以前に起こった出来事について思いを巡らそうではないか。
